SAE launches new Bachelor of Information Technology where creativity meets tech

SAE University College has launched a new Bachelor of Information Technology, bringing professional IT education into a creative environment where technical skills, human thinking and practical problem solving come together.

SAE University College has launched a new Bachelor of Information Technology, bringing professional IT education into a creative environment where technical skills, human thinking and practical problem solving come together.

The new degree will give you the opportunity to develop skills across software development, cloud computing, cyber security, databases, analytics, artificial intelligence and enterprise systems, while learning alongside developers, designers, filmmakers and digital creators.

It is a different approach to IT education that recognises technical knowledge is only part of what it takes to solve the digital challenges of tomorrow.

Bringing creative thinking to IT

Technology increasingly shapes how we work, communicate, create and experience the world.

Behind those experiences are IT professionals who need to do more than understand technology. They need to understand people, identify problems, collaborate and find new ways to make technology work better.

Robert Haubt, Head of School for School of Information Technology and Creative Computing at SAE University College, said the launch reflected the changing skills needed across the technology industry.

“Technology is changing how we work, create and connect, and we need people who can do more than understand the tools. We need creative thinkers who can understand people, solve problems and imagine better ways to use technology.”

Creativity has been part of SAE’s DNA for decades. The Bachelor of Information Technology brings that same mindset to technology education, giving you the opportunity to develop professional IT skills inside a University College built around creative and technical expertise.

Build technology with people in mind

The Bachelor of Information Technology puts people at the centre of technology from the beginning.

Students on the course will explore Human Computer Interaction and how people use and experience technology before developing capabilities across programming, software development, networks, systems and emerging technologies.

As skills grow, students will explore cloud computing, cyber security, business intelligence and analytics, databases, artificial intelligence and enterprise systems, with opportunities to specialise in Cyber Security and Web Development.

Through practical projects, client briefs and collaborative work, the course will apply learnings to real problems while developing the communication, teamwork and professional capabilities needed in contemporary technology careers.

Work Integrated Learning will provide further exposure to professional practice, while a major capstone project will give students the opportunity to bring together technical, creative and professional capabilities.

Robert Haubt said SAE’s creative community offered technology students a distinctive learning environment.

“At SAE, you are learning technology in a community built around creativity. You will develop practical technical skills while being surrounded by people working across games, film, design, audio and other creative disciplines, giving you a different perspective on what technology can make possible.”

Build your future in IT

From digital products and creative media to business, government and emerging technologies, IT skills can take you in many directions.

Potential careers include software developer, web developer, systems analyst, business analyst, data analyst, cloud engineer, cyber security analyst, technology consultant and creative technologist.

The Bachelor of Information Technology also forms part of a flexible undergraduate pathway alongside SAE’s Diploma of Information Technology and Associate Degree of Information Technology.

Whether you are finishing school, trying to teach yourself to code or looking for a new direction, SAE offers a different way into tech.

Because the future of technology will not just be built by people who understand systems. It will be built by people who can imagine what those systems could do.
