SAE audio graduate takes the music world by storm

SAE Sydney graduate Sampa Tembo (aka Sampa the Great) is taking the international music scene by storm, cementing her place as one of Australia's finest performers.
SAE audio graduate Sampa the Great

The Sydney-based Zambian artist debuted her first Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival performance in April 2022. Her appearance on the Gobi stage at the event was historic, as it marked the first time a Zambian artist had played at a Coachella event.

Sampa the Great has an action-packed 2022 with appearances on the stages of Vivid in Sydney at the end of May and at Glastonbury in the UK in June.

The rise of Sampa the Great, as an artist has been spectacular, to say the least. Born in Zambia, raised in Botswana, and now based in Sydney, the SAE graduate and artist continues to shed light on socially conscious themes through her thought-provoking lyrics that artfully combine her effortless street style and creative choreography.

Rising through the ranks to join Australia’s hip-hop royalty, Sampa hit the spotlight when she secured the coveted opening set for US rapper, Kendrick Lamar, during his Australian tour in 2016. This wasn’t the first time Sampa had been chosen to support a major international act, having previously toured with Fat Freddy’s Drop and local band Hiatus Kaiyote as well as festival slots at Splendour In The Grass, Triple J’s One Night Stand, Golden Plains and WOMAD.
