- What are big Australian festivals looking for?
- Targeting the smaller festivals – why would you do it?
- How to get your film out beyond festivals and make money through distribution of your short

Guest speaker Poppy WalkerSpeaker 2: Poppy Walker - Award-winning director and producer

Poppy Walker is a highly successful director and producer, whose work explores the wonder and complexity of the human condition.  

Poppy co-founded H.W. Collective with director/producer Sophie Hexter, and together they created short films including Hitch (2014); The Battle (2015); The Ghost in the Machine (2016); Land to Vale (2017); and Drummer Girl (2018). 

Their work has screened at festivals including Aesthetica Short Film Festival, UK; Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, USA; Lunafest, USA; International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, Germany and broadcast on ABC, Australia and Aeon, USA.

Poppy will cover:

- Her own filmmaking practice
- Festival strategy
- Working regionally as a filmmaker
- Screening of her award-winning short documentary 'Dust Devil' which had its Australian premiere at Flickerfest
