Will You Remember Me Album Release

10 Apr 2015

2014 Bachelor of Audio graduate Tony Romeril has released an album to honour the final work of Australian songwriter Ted Mulry.  The album features re-recorded and re-interpreted songs written by Ted for his last solo album ‘This Time’.

Ted Mulry rose to fame as a solo singer/songwriter with his single ‘Julia’ in 1970, and later formed the Ted Mulry Gang, who had many hits including ‘Jump In My Car’, which spent 6 weeks at number one on the Australian singles charts.

As the lead singer of 70s hit band Autumn, Tony Romeril became great friends with Ted, and spent a lot of time with him during his final months before he passed away in 2001.

Tony promised Ted that he would find a way to get the songs the exposure they deserved. “Ted was underrated as a songwriter, and some of his best work was on his last solo album”, he says.

Brisbane Audio lecturer Akshay Kalawar mixed the album, and mentored Tony through the production process. The recording sessions featured a mix of artists and singers from the 1970s and 80s who knew and loved Ted’s work.

Tony says “I came to SAE to learn the production skills so I could get this project off the ground. It was my purpose from the beginning, and I remained focused throughout the degree on getting this album ready for release. I couldn’t have done it without the help of some great industry friends and SAE staff.”

Having established his own label Autumn Records, the album ‘Will You Remember Me – A Tribute to Ted Mulry” is available now for purchase through the website.

The album has featured heavily across ABC radio, including as Album of the Week on 612 ABC Brisbane, and has received attention from major media outlets.
