Study For A Day 2019
19 Jun 2019
The first of this year’s SAE Study For A Day programs has just wrapped up again and attendees to the one day workshop had a great time working on creative projects in one of five study areas; animation, audio, film, design or games.
Study For A Day attendees discovered what life is like for an SAE student and explored what it means to be a creative professional all in state-of-the-art facilities with SAE industry experts by their side.
In these fun workshops, Study For A Day participants produced a creative piece of work to take away for use in a portfolio or showreel. Attendees also received a certificate of participation to acknowledge the creative work they have undertaken.
Whether you are still in school, exploring your post school study options or wanting to change career, then Study For A Day is a great way to get a feel for your creative passion.
The Studio Production workshop introduced participants to the principles of studio sound production, including recording and music production software, studio signal flow, microphone techniques, and other audio elements including post-production and mixing techniques.
Attendees to the Music Production workshop learnt the principles of electronic music production, including Ableton and other music production software, sequencing, synthesis and mixing, as well as other electronic techniques such as sound design.
“I love coming to SAE, the campus is fantastic and has a really great vibe”
The animation workshop covered the principles of animation, including both 2D and 3D animation software, character animation, game art, 3D modelling and rigging, and visual effects.
“Coming to Study for a day today just reinforced my thoughts about studying here! The workshop was a good insight into the animation course”
Film buffs got acquainted with the principles of film production, including screenwriting and storyboarding, camera operation, technical production on set, lighting and sound, editing and post production techniques.
"Being able to actually get in, film a scene and learn techniques with the camera was really cool! It was an awesome workshop!"
“I want to be in the film industry and this is a great opportunity for me to get my foot in the door. I got to use the high-quality cameras, learn new skills and do it all for a really great price.”
Aspiring designers were introduced to creating as part of the design process, utilising Adobe design software, layout and typography concepts, branding and photo manipulation.
"The class was very engaging. Even though I already knew small amounts of information (about design), I still got some useful new skills. The class really catered to the varied skillset of attendees"
The games program covered the principles of games development, including games software, programming languages, games design principles and psychology, prototyping and digital games concepts.
"It gave me a really good insight into what is actually involved - I didn't know anything about how games were made before."
Study For A Day is a bi-annual event that takes place at all SAE campuses nationally and features comprehensive workshops for each of SAE’s creative academic disciplines. The next Study For A Day takes place in October, but if you can’t wait to see what SAE can offer you, come along to our Open Day event in August, or book a personalised tour of your local campus, available 5 days a week.
