Student band records at SAE studios

On Tuesday 15 May, SAE Creative Media Institute Byron Bay played host to Mullumbimby High School students during the live recording of Year 8 band, Ratmongers. Utilising the SSL 9000K soundesk studio and live space to record their original songs, the Mullumbimby High students were supported by their peers in the recording and production of an accompanying video clip, while supervised and assisted by SAE staff.

This unique experience was part of SAE Byron Bay's Schools Program, where the campus facilitates creative workshops for local schools from the Northern Rivers region. Schools have the opportunity to visit SAE and use its world-class facilities and equipment under the expert guidance of SAE’s industry trained staff.

Byron Bay Campus Manager, Ben Funnell, said SAE embraces the opportunity to foster creative relationships with the region’s local schools. “Byron Shire is a hive of creativity, and this includes the district’s talented high school students. Our studio spaces are the perfect outlet for their artistry.”

Supervising the students on the day was Bede Ivett from Mullumbimby High. He said the students were thrilled with their experience at SAE. “The kids loved it! We could not have had a better day.”

Ratmongers formed at Mullumbimby High School in Year 7. This was the band's first live recording studio experience, and definitely won’t be their last!
