SAE Academic Board member recognised on Queen's Birthday honours list for 2019

SAE Academic Board Member Graeme Turner was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) on the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours list last weekend. 

Graeme was bestowed the honour “for distinguished service to higher education through pioneering work in the field of cultural studies and the humanities.”

Graeme Turner is Emeritus Professor of Cultural Studies, in the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the University of Queensland. Graeme holds a PhD, A Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours). One of the founders of cultural and media studies in Australia, he is a former Federation Fellow, a past President of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the convenor of the ARC Cultural Research Network, and the founding director of the Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies at the University of Queensland. He has published 24 books and his work has been translated into 10 languages.
