PERTH CELEBRATES WITH PUBLIC EXHIBITION

20 Dec 2019

For the first time SAE Perth took their annual student showcase off campus and into the heart of the city - Yagan square.

This event hosted industry professionals, family and friends, alongside SAE’s students and staff. The showcase gave students the opportunity to celebrate their successes and exhibit their amazing creations.

Iconic Yagan Square Tower broadcast work from design and animation students on the big screen while the adjacent Palace Cinemas hosted interactive installations and displays of student work.

The audio students held a silent disco in Palace’s downstairs foyer where listeners with wireless headphones could continue to groove along, while roving through the rest of the exhibits. The upstairs lobby saw students presenting their interactive design, games and VR displays.

Film and animation students occupied two out of nine of Palace’s theatres to showcase their work on the big screens; just as it was meant to be seen. And movie goers who were present to see a film at the other seven cinemas joined in on the action, enjoying the displays and creativity of our students.

The event wrapped up with an after-party at The Boston, where our students coordinated the live sound for a number of local bands and artists.

West TV (WTV) was also present, filming and interviewing our staff and students on the night. Keep an eye out for the episode coming to Youtube soon!

The students involved relished the opportunity to showcase their work in a public space and to such glowing reviews from all guests. Congratulations to everyone at SAE Perth who made the event such a success. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!

The brief given to students for this showcase was to present their projects out of their normal campus environment taking their projects into the city to a broader audience. The audience included VIPs from industry, guests, friends and family and also included the general public who would have had no preconceptions or expectations of the students work. The challenge for the students was to engage with this audience in a genuine and meaningful way, and as usual present their projects at the highest industry standard.  I can proudly say they achieved this with flying colours, the showcase was a truly next level and amazing experience.

Dean Pearson, SAE Perth Campus Manager

“The showcase was a blast, I got to shake hands with some amazing people and it was a pleasure seeing how visitors and students responded to my audio mixing for the short films. I enjoyed every moment of the evening.”

Tristan Boor, SAE Perth Audio Studen

"It was amazing to be able to take our Student Showcase off-campus. Giving the students the opportunity to screen their films in a real cinema, showcase their games and designs to the public, have people listen to their audio productions in a dynamic space and see their animations on the big screen was incredible."
