THE FUN STUFF
What music are you loving right now?
Why do you love working at SAE?
Where to start? The collegiality and the fact that (almost) everyone in the office will get the obscure Simpsons reference. My colleagues' amazing experience and networks. The opportunity that I've been given to build something great and the team I get to do it with. The amazing projects the Postgraduate students come up with.
What is the best fun fact about yourself?
Not so much a fun fact about myself but my wife owns a business making ice cream for dogs. That's a great conversation starter at parties.
How do you like to spend your time outside of SAE?
Spending time with my toddler daughter and taking her overseas to see her German family whenever possible. Reading and a surprising amount of gardening (ever since I've owned a house). Then there's a lifelong passion for video games.
What is your life motto?
"Correction does much, but encouragement does more" Goethe
What is your dream holiday destination?
I love travelling and there's so much I still want to see. Currently Japan is on top of the list but also South America and travelling along the old Silk Road. I also have a strange fascination with North Korea. (One that my wife does not share.)
Are you working on any exciting projects at the moment?
A friend working for a Sydney-based university invited me to work with him on a game that utilises card-based mechanics to engage tertiarty students. It's a great example for how games can be used for good: Pokemon meets Hearthstone to ensure ongoing motivation and success.
