Giri runs for the Sydney Children's Hospital

SAE Sydney Assistant Campus Manager Giri Shanker is one of those special kind of people, always looking for ways to help others. On Sunday the 19th of May, Giri will get up extra early for a Sunday morning and take part in the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon, all for a good cause in raising funds for the Sydney Children’s Hospital.

After moving from Singapore to Sydney in 2017, Giri says he wants to find opportunities for social and charity engagement now that he has settled into his new city.

“I have chosen the Children's hospital because I believe that every child in need of medical attention should be able to access world-class care and the Sydney Children's Hospital Charity shares similar values,” Giri says.

Aiming to smash last year’s target of $600, Giri is looking to raise $700 for the Sydney Children's Hospital to continue to care for those in need.

“Last year I raised $661 for the Sydney Children's hospital which was $61 above my goal.  Contributors included family and friends as well as SAE staff, both from local and national offices and the contributions ranged from an affordable $5 to a very generous $100” Giri said.

This will be Giri’s 4th half marathon before he tackles the Sydney Running Festival full marathon in September.
