CareerOne Web Industry Article features Brisbane campus

25 Jul 2014

Brisbane campus recently featured in an article for CareerOne, about the growth in the web industry, and the hunt for skilled app developers.

Web student Sheree Dillon (pictured) was interviewed about her final project, a drawing app, and gave her thoughts on a career in app development.

“I know a future in this industry is limitless and constantly changing, which is exciting an challenging for me”.

Department Coordinator of Design, Web & Mobile, James Macaulay, was also asked for his views on the growth of the industry, and the type of skills required.

“People hear the word code and they run for the hills”, he says, “but this sort of thing straddles between art and technical. We have students who have come through graphic design and are looking to upskill. We can teach the technical skills but there’s a lot of work that involves being creative.”

The Careerone article appeared across a number of publications, including the Courier Mail, MX and Quest News, to encourage people to study web and app development, in order to keep up with the demand in the market.
