Adelaide set to get the Blues

28 Mar 2019

In partnership with Bluesfest touring, two SAE Creative Media Institute students, Kaitlyn and Jack, will have the opportunity to work at a live concert of Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats, an eight piece Blues and Americana group from Denver Colorado.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats are taking to the road across Australia this April with live dates set for Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne in conjunction with their performance at Byron Bay Bluesfest.

In Adelaide, the Diploma of Music Industry and Studio Production students will assist the sound engineer and band with all aspects of the show, including initial set up, sound check, tuning the room as well as managing the sound for the live performance.

SAE has an established and longstanding relationship with Bluesfest in Byron Bay and students have been getting on the ground experience at the festival for many years. 2019 will be the second year that SAE students will also have the opportunity to join Bluesfest sideshow tours taking place around the country.

SAE Adelaide Campus Manager Johann Dreyer says the opportunity for students to learn on the job with a professional live sound engineer is an invaluable experience.

"Bluesfest Touring is enabling our students to get hands-on, working with international touring bands, what a fantastic outcome for these aspiring audio engineers," Johann said.
