Driving you to explore and further your ideas, practice-based learning framework will consist of interactive online modules, collaborative peer learning projects and occasional intensive on campus workshops.

You may be eligible for an exit award of Graduate Certificate in Creative Industries upon completion of the first trimester.

SAE Study Tour to Berlin

Experience Berlin with an SAE Study Tour!

Join us for an exclusive five day SAE postgraduate study tour experience in Berlin this December. On this small group tour, you’ll visit a range of prominent creative media organisations including Gamebook, Tritonus Studios, Facebook and Port-au-Prince Film Productions. You’ll also dine with industry members, tour SAE Berlin’s state of the art campus and meet with SAE Berlin staff and students to expand your global network. 

The tour is not all work though, there’s plenty of time for sightseeing as you immerse yourself in Berlin’s vibrant culture, with walking tours of the city’s famous attractions and visits to some of Germany's most iconic historical sites. This unique adventure offers the opportunity for you to truly widen your horizons in the global creative media landscape and build your international network all while enjoying the exciting city of Berlin! 

Course credit: This tour is a postgraduate elective module. Alternatively you can attend in addition to your chosen SAE course but course credit will not be attained.  

Who is eligible? Any current or new SAE postgraduate students who wish to attend will be automatically accepted for the tour. SAE Bachelor students in their final trimester of study and SAE Alumni are encouraged to apply, though they will be subject to a selection process.

SAE's Graduate Certificate of Creative Industries is structured as an 40 credit point program, which you can choose to stud­y on a full-time or part-time basis.

If studying full-time the course is delivered over a minimum one, 40-credit point trimesters (approximately 3 months). Talk to us to discuss what your part-time study load will look like.

Course Structure

The course has been designed to meet both your individual creative and professional aspirations with the choice of discipline and non-discipline specific electives and core modules to provide the appropriate foundation for your capstone project.

Core Modules:

Core modules are taken by all students regardless of their discipline specialisation. This allows you to not only extend or deepen your speciaised knowledge and / or skills but engage with students from other disciplines to broaden them. The graduate certificate includes one core module; Graduate Studio 1.

Choose to deepen your knowledge and skills within your existing discipline or complement this experience with cross-discipline electives. To compliment your discipline skills, there is a suite of common electives in innovation, entrepreneurship and marketing.
Of your six electives, one is mandated (The Creative Practitioner) and another is from a selection of entrepreneurial and marketing electives. The other four electives may be drawn from a wide selection of non-discipline specific and discipline electives across Audio, Film and Games.

Entry Requirements

Applicants for Postgraduate courses must satisfy at least one of the following requirements:

1. A completed bachelor degree or higher in media production (obtained within the last 10 years)


2. Experience based entry

At least 5 years of documented relevant work experience related to media production with evidence of artistic ability and achievement or practice comparable to that of undergraduate degree holders in relevant disciplines, combined with the successful completion of year 12 or higher.

Entry requirements

Applicants for Postgraduate courses must satisfy three of the following minimum entry criteria:

  1. Australian Bachelor degree or higher in Media Production;
  2. Australian Bachelor degree or higher in a non-related field, as well as demonstrated skills and expertise in Media Production.

Alternate Entry

SAE recognises that learning may be acquired from both formal study and professional experience. Applicants without a bachelor degree can apply for Alternate Entry to the Graduate Certificate and, on completion, apply to transfer to the Graduate Diploma or Masters.
