Bio
Dr Robert Haubt is an interdisciplinary educator, researcher, and entrepreneur with over two decades of experience at the crossroads of computer science, information design, and the social sciences. As a Senior Lecturer for Information Technology, Robert brings a deep commitment to leveraging digital innovation to empower communities, support sustainability, and advance social equity.
Robert has led the development of pioneering digital platforms including The Global Rock Art Database – the world’s first centralised resource for global rock art research – as well as open knowledge and AI-based systems such as Wikidemia.Info and U&AI. His research spans human-computer interaction, data ontology, machine learning, and intelligent systems for field-based research in disciplines like anthropology and archaeology.
Originally trained as an audio and broadcast engineer, Robert holds a Master of Media & Communication and a PhD from Griffith University. His doctoral research explored the use of intelligent information systems in the social sciences, and since then he has held research fellowships at both Griffith and Macquarie Universities. His recent work includes using AI to enhance STEM education outcomes for Indigenous communities, contributing to the Closing the Gap agenda and supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the areas of Quality Education, Wellbeing, and Reduced Inequalities.
Robert empowers students to apply critical thinking and cutting-edge tech to real-world challenges.
