TAYCE HENDERSON

A few years ago Tayce Henderson gave up her degree in psychology to pursue her passion for design. She is now an SAE graduate running her own fashion magazine, Little Sparrow.

What inspired you to enter into the career you’re in?
I was studying psychology and realised that I needed to do something more creative with my life. I had a friend who was studying graphic design and I had a chance to see what it was about before deciding to study it myself the following year.

What are your fondest memories of your time at SAE?
The last six months of my degree, working on our final projects together in one room for long hours each week was incredibly difficult, but it was definitely my favourite time of the degree. It was a different experience and really changed how I looked at what I was doing, it wasn’t just uni work anymore.

Are you able to shed some light on how studying at SAE lead you to where you are now?
I started my magazine as my final project at SAE with the intention of continuing on with it after I finished my degree.

What advice would you give to students aspiring to become successful in their field?
Be brave, take risks and get your name out there. Do as much collaborative work with other young creatives as you can – network. The people you are studying with will be the people out in the field with you in the coming years. Take the time to make as many connections as you can, because you never know when they will come in handy.
