Overview

The Master of Creative Industries offers a progressive learning experience with modules designed to meet both your creative and professional aspirations, and provide the appropriate foundation for your capstone project. The on-campus delivery is ideal for both the international and domestic students.

Enhance entrepreneurial and communication skills to progress your vision, and expand upon your experience to position yourself for strategic and leadership roles.  Throughout the course, you’ll learn from industry thought-leaders, collaborate with your peers, extend your network via SAE’s global footprint, and solidify your own reputation within the creative industries sector.

SAE has implemented a remote flexible learning option for current and future students. The range of tools developed by SAE will not only allow students to collaborate online but also gain experience in remote working practices widely used within the creative industries.

As an SAE student you will have access to SAE's industry-leading Melbourne campus. Access the latest equipment and explore the edges of your comfort zone as a creative to bring your graduate project to life.

Course

The Master of Creative Industries – on campus is currently only available in Melbourne commencing Trimester 3 - September 28, 2020.

The course itself challenges you in a postgraduate environment to develop new and interesting ideas and is centered around your Capstone project.

Bring a new idea or develop from the outset utilising frameworks and methodologies to progress your vision and develop skills to position yourself for strategic and leadership roles within the creative industries sector.

The course is a postgraduate qualification designed to meet both creative and professional aspirations.

It is;

  • Delivered over 6 trimesters full-time (two years) in duration
  • Offered in the September 2020 & February 2021 intakes.
  • Delivered in a dedicated and exclusive postgraduate study space at SAE Melbourne campus
  • Practice-based learning with a combination of face-to-face facilitation, collaborative peer learning projects and online delivery culminating in a final capstone project.
  • A fixed program with 16 modules, totalling 160 credit points

Careers

As an SAE graduate, you will be prepared to take on strategic and leadership roles within the creative industries. You will be aware of new developments and be able to research and troubleshoot trends and opportunities.

You will also have the entrepreneurial and communication skills to take your personal vision to the next stage. The contemporary media environment is complex and exciting. It looks for leaders who are willing and able to explore, test ideas and respond to new possibilities. Your training will have made you a conscious innovator.

You may be eligible for an exit award of Graduate Certificate in Creative Industries or a Graduate Diploma in Creative Industries (non-degree) upon completion of the first trimester or the first two trimesters respectively.

Entry requirements

Applicants for Postgraduate courses must satisfy at least one of the following requirements:

  1. A completed Bachelor degree or higher in media production or a related creative industries field  (obtained within the last 10 years);
    OR
  2. Experience-based entry.

At least five years of documented relevant work experience related to media production or a related creative industries field with evidence of artistic ability and achievement or practice comparable to that of undergraduate degree holders in relevant disciplines, combined with the successful completion of Year 12 or higher.
