Sydney Film Lecturer Works on Feature Film

12 Dec 2014

Observance is the latest feature film from Director Joseph Sims-Dennett. It’s set for an international distribution and SAE Sydney’s Senior Film Lecturer Brad Crawford worked as the Colourist crafting the ‘look’ for what is an exciting and tense 90 horror-filled minutes.

Brad describes Sims-Dennett vision for the film as gradually producing a grungy look to the point of a ‘dirty, burnt orange feel’.

“We started with some stylised reference imagery and let DaVinci Resolve get to work pushing the Arri Alexa material to the limit”, says Brad. “We had a great time defining the palette as the film unfolds, as well as the consistency issues a colourist has to deal with in balancing footage”.

Observance director, Joseph Sims-Dennett, says “it has been an extremely rewarding process seeing my vision for the film finally take shape after seeing so many cast and crew hours already go into this. I especially wanted to thank SAE Sydney and Brad for their contribution to Observance”.

The world premiere will take place in the first half of 2015 with a domestic release currently set for August.
