SHOWCASING BYRON SHIRES NEXT GENERATION OF CREATIVE TALENT

24 Aug 2018

To celebrate and promote the success of SAE Creative Media Institute students completing their bachelor degrees, a community industry showcase was held at the Institute’s Byron Bay campus on Thursday 23rd August.

The students had the opportunity to network with industry guests throughout the shire. Guests included representatives from Bay FM, Flickerfest, Screenworks, Bluesfest, local film, recording and animation studios and education partners.

As night fell the campus came alive, with student films projected on the campus green, sound recordings broadcast from the studios and design work displayed throughout the venue.

Interactive light and sound installations interacted the natural campus surrounds to create a magical creative experience for students, staff, family, friends and guests.

As guests mingled and enjoyed woodfired pizza, local musician Hayley Grace from The Bay Collective performed a stripped back version of her show, accompanied by band member and SAE staff member Elena Marcigot on saxophone and clarinet.

SAE Byron Campus manager Ben Funnell hosted the showcase and the General Manager of SAE Australasia, Lee Aitken, delivered an opening address, followed by presentations from student representatives who thoughtfully explained the significance of their work.

Lee Aitken says SAE Byron Bay is proud to work closely with the local creative community and the major creative events hosted in the region. “Our continued relationships with the industry in this region support work placement and employment opportunities for our students and new entrepreneurial ventures pave the way for future generations of aspiring creative practitioners.”

SAE Byron Bay offers Diploma and Bachelor programs in Audio, Film, Design, Animation and Games. If you are interested to learn more about the programs on offer, or the facilities on campus, book a personalised tour of the Byron Bay campus today by calling 1800 723 338 or by visiting sae.edu.au.
