A Film lovers guide to New York

3 Jan 2019

New York is a film lovers paradise. Although it’s the little sister in film production to LA’s Hollywood, its streetscapes are just as recognisable and synonymous with American culture to overseas viewers.  We show you 5 New York sites that will excite any film lover or TV watcher.

1. Film sites tour

New York is one of those cities that is so familiar even if you have never visited, we recognise its streets and buildings, yellow cabs, The Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty from seeing them on screen in our favourite films.

When in New York a tour of these iconic sites is a must for any film buff to relive your favourite scenes from films and tv. Classics such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Seinfeld, Ghostbusters, Sex and the City, When Harry Met Sally, North by Northwest, Home Alone 2, Men in Black, Crocodile Dundee, The Devil Wears Prada… we could go on!

There are many guided walking or bus tour options available, or you could map your route and go it solo.

 2. Museum of the Moving Image

36-01 35 Ave, Astoria, NY 11106

Dedicated to all things film and television, the Museum of the Moving Image holds screenings, talks, exhibitions, tours, displays of historic artifacts all in order to preserve and elevate the medium.

The museum is housed in historical Paramount film studios in Queens. The studios lay dormant when film production moved to Los Angeles before the Astoria Motion Picture and Television Center Foundation repurposed the building as a museum in 1988.

Celebrating film, TV, animation, video games and the objects that help create them, The Museum of the Moving Image is a must for film and history buffs alike.
