Why is orientation at SAE so important?

1. Orientation is vital for a seamless transition to student life.

Attending orientation is a crucial step that we know contributes directly to your educational success. Below is what you can look forward to when you attend your orientation session:

  • Meet your lecturers and receive information on your course structure and specific units of study.
  • Participate in interactive workshops led by your lecturers and see the state-of-the-art equipment and industry-leading software you’ll be using.
  • Receive guidance about accessing IT systems such as the Student Portal, library and your timetable.
  • Learn how your classes and assessments will run and what’s expected from you.
  • Find out about student support services from our Student Services Advisors, campus counsellors, librarians, Tech Team, IT team, and learning advisory team.

2. Make important connections before classes start.

Attending orientation allows you to de-mystify the SAE experience and make valuable ties with other students and your academic and support staff before your classes commence. Many at SAE find their initial connections become sources of support, creative inspiration and motivation throughout their course – with the bonus of potential life-long friends and future creative collaboration and employment connections.

3. Become familiar with your campus.

Our creative campuses offer inspiring spaces to work collaboratively with classmates from your course and other disciplines. If you will be attending classes on campus, orientation is the perfect chance to become familiar with the campus and services available to you. Work out where your preferred collaboration, study and relaxation spaces might be, connect to the Wi-Fi and know ahead of time which studio, computer lab or classroom your first week of classes will be in.

At SAE, we are excited to be part of your student experience and learning journey. We look forward to seeing you at orientation. If you have questions specific to your campus, please contact your SAE campus.
