The application process at SAE is simple and easy.

Australian and New Zealand citizens and permanent residents

This information is for applicants who are Australian and New Zealand citizens or those who have a current permanent residency visa, and want to study a Certificate or Diploma; or an Associate, Bachelor or Masters degree.

It’s simple to apply

Applying to study at SAE is an easy two-step process. At any time, if you run into any issues or have any questions, call us on 1800 723 338 or fill out our online enquiry form and we will help you.

Before you apply, remember to check the entry requirements for studying with us (this might be Year 10, or Year 12, a TAFE award, a prior degree, or life/work experience). If you don’t meet the entry requirements, call us on 1 800 723 338 for a chat or reach out online.

If you meet the entry requirements, you can apply straight away.

  1. Find a course. If you are unsure what you should study, call us for a chat on 1800 723 338 or reach out online
  2. Apply. Just click any Apply Now link on the SAE website and fill out and submit the online form. We will get in touch to say hello and assist you to ensure you have a smooth application process. That’s it for the application process!

Accept your offer

The next step will be to accept your offer. If you applied via direct entry at SAE Apply Now you will receive a Letter of Offer from our National Admissions team to your email address.

Eligible applicants who applied via the tertiary admissions centres VTAC, QTAC or UAC may receive an offer in their offer rounds.

To accept your offer, you are required to provide SAE with the following documents:

  • Student Enrolment Form
  • A copy of your current Australian passport; OR Australian Citizenship/Birth Certificate PLUS photo ID (e.g. driver’s licence or Keypass ID card)
  • A copy of your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (or highest educational qualification).

PLEASE NOTEAt any time, you should be willing and able to provide original documents or original certified copies of supporting documentation. 

Once you have returned the above documents in full, you will receive a Confirmation of Enrolment via email. This means we are officially holding your place in the course of your choice at SAE. 


New South Wales applicants (Sydney or Byron Bay campus)

UAC Schools Recommendation Scheme

SAE participates in the UAC Schools Recommendation Scheme. This scheme enables schools to recommend current Year 12 students for an early offer at SAE based on their academic merit and achievement if they apply through UAC. Applications are processed centrally by UAC, with entry interviews conducted by SAE during the months of August through to November the year prior to enrolment. Queensland applicants (Brisbane campus)

Apply for the February, May or September intakes through QTAC OR direct to SAE.

Apply for the February, May or September intakes directly to SAE UNLESS you are currently completing Year 12, or have left school and do NOT have a Certificate IV qualification or above, in which case you need to apply via VTAC.

Changing your SAE course

A. I have NOT received a letter of offer

If you want to change the SAE course you have selected to study – and you applied via UAC, QTAC, or VTAC – and have NOT yet received a formal letter of offer, then you must change your course preferences using the tertiary admissions centre you used when you first applied.

B. I HAVE received a letter of offer

If you applied through UAC, QTAC or VTAC, or direct to SAE, and HAVE received a letter of offer from them, but would now like to change your course preferences, contact our admissions team on 1800 723 338 or fill out our online enquiry form and we will help you.

Changing your SAE campus

If you applied through UAC, QTAC or VTAC, or direct to SAE, and would like to study at a different SAE campus, contact our admissions team on 1800 723 338 or fill out our online enquiry form and we will help you.

Deferral

CHANGE OF COURSE OR CAMPUS – FOR CURRENT STUDENTS

SAE programs are designed to provide students with flexible learning pathways. This includes provisions for 'nested' awards, specialisations and flexible exit points for students. A student may change their program level or specialisation throughout their enrolment, provided admission requirements and other eligibility and credit transfer requirements are met. SAE Student Services staff are available to support students with a change of program scenarios. For more information, arrange a meeting to discuss your needs with your local SAE Student Services staff.

SAE students are eligible to transfer their studies to any SAE campus. Your local Student Services team will be able to assist you in this process.

DEFERRAL – FOR CURRENT STUDENTS

Students who have received a letter of offer or are current SAE students may choose to defer their studies at any stage. For more information, please contact your local Student Services team or review the Student Progression Policy.
