Spotlight on Byron’s creative talent

9 Jun 2015

Graduates of SAE Creative Media Institute in Byron Bay gathered last week at The Treehouse to catch up with peers and connect with local industry leaders.

SAE Campus Manager Bill Wade said the event was the first of many alumni activities aimed at linking students and graduates with future mentors and employees.

“What sets SAE apart from other creative media providers is the way we integrate industry partnerships in everything we do – from developing our courses and employing industry experts to deliver our programs to providing internships and pathways to real jobs,” he said.

The alumni gathering attracted an eclectic bunch of SAE graduates including filmmaking brothers Jonatan and Sebastian Lundmark, cinematographer Stefan Jose, SAE’s 2014 Most Outstanding Film Student, Sara Momtazian, and two of Byron Shire’s renowned photographers, Caroline Fisher and Evan Malcolm.

On hand to network with the graduates was a contingent of local industry representatives including Lisa O’Meara from Screenworks, Frankie Kimpton from Ventura Booking Agency and Matty Woo from Premium Media.

SAE is the world’s largest creative media educator, with 53 campuses in 27 countries. It offers government-accredited bachelor degree, diploma and certificate courses across six disciplines: animation, audio, design, film, games and web & mobile.
