SAE students ready to rock Bluesfest

22 Mar 2018

It is that time of year again when SAE Creative Media Institute students and staff prepare for the experience of a lifetime at the ever popular Byron Bay Bluesfest, held over the Easter long weekend.

More than 30 of SAE’s talented students will work at Bluesfest for five days, alongside seasoned industry professionals, as part of the Institute’s work placement program.

Current students across film, audio and design programs will be immersed in festival life to provide essential backstage assistance, side of stage large screen projection and social media coverage of the event.

This year’s cohort will comprise 12 audio, 11 film and nine design students from SAE Byron Bay. They will also be joined by a student from the SAE Melbourne campus.

“We are extremely proud of our long-standing partnership with Bluesfest and the opportunities it affords SAE students. Bluesfest is an iconic music festival in the Byron Bay area and it opens a number of employment opportunities for our students through its wide network of contacts”, says Byron Bay Campus Manager, Ben Funnell.

On her 2017 Bluesfest experience SAE Film graduate Natalie Grube felt it played an important part in bringing her industry knowledge to life; “My time at SAE prepared me for my Bluesfest experience. I will be forever grateful for the enduring support of the teaching and support staff at SAE Byron Bay, and also for the organisers of Bluesfest for their faith in SAE's students.”

As always SAE Bluesfest interns can expect an exciting and exhausting, but ultimately rewarding, experience.

Be sure to look out for the black and white SAE CREW t-shirts at this year’s Byron Bay Bluesfest running from March 29 to April 2.
