SAE graduates seek support to launch adult animated comedy series

22 Oct 2015

Four SAE animation graduates are calling out for support to get their Aussie animated comedy series off the ground.

Brad Duence, Brett Irwin, Kylie Moreyra and Sapphire Sheedy, who formed Smalltown Animation while studying at the Sydney campus, are aiming to raise $6,000 to finish an adult series they started as students in 2014.

Duence describes Tough Love as a witty mixture of award-winning animated series Absolutely Fabulous, Bob’s Burgers and Daria.

The company has launched a Kickstarter campaign to produce a full pilot episode of Tough Love, with the aim of getting a first season commissioned for television broadcast. If successful, it will be one of the first Australian adult animated comedy series.

Since graduating, Smalltown Animation has hit the ground running, creating instructional videos for the Music Rights Australia and ARIA's Music Matters campaign, highlighting the important questions to ask about copyright law.

To get behind the animation team, check out their Kickstarter page and pledge your support before 29 October.
