Creativity

Dr Nat Texler, SAE Institute Design lecturerPresenter - Dr Nat Texler

Never satisfied with one singular role, Nat Texler has been working in the creative industries since 2010. She has been everything and anything required for a project: writer, director, musician, composer, production/stage manager, actor (voice, film and stage), publicist, stunt person, circus performer, administrator, technical operator and producer. Having been awarded a practice as research PhD from the University of South Australia in 2019, Nat has now turned her attention to the marriage of ideas and concepts with practical outcomes.

Her writing work includes the musicals Slumway (2010) and Tick-Tock (2011), as well as stage shows Lifeline (2016), Codename: Mimic (2019) and Mosaic (2020). She is part of Small Dog Productions, a company with a focus on emerging theatre practitioners in Adelaide, as well as being the acting company manager of Eruption Theatre, a small collective based at UniSA for third year students. Nat is also an acting coach, specialising in naturalism and Strasberg “emotive memory” as well as training directors in communication of concept.

Basically put: if Nat doesn’t know how something is done, she will absolutely teach herself.

Creativity Masterclass - Multifaceted Creativity: The Independent Method.

In independent creative industries, sometimes, practitioners need to flow between various streams. From the conceptualisation to the outcomes, creativity is often unrestrained by traditional viewpoints on practice.

Nat will run you through how she applies creativity across various outcomes. From text analysis of scripts, to scene workshopping, company management, publicity and technological application, this masterclass offers insight into how creative approaches assist in all facets of practice, be that content or production.
