These workshops will primarily focus on workflows for game sound implementation in 2D and 3D games, along with an introduction into C# coding for audio (prior coding experience is not required).

Nick will give a live demonstration of mixing in Virtual Reality using Spatial Connect, and walk you through concepts of object-based panning and head tracking for immersive binaural listening. Through these workshops you will be able to listen to the binaural feed at studio quality from your end, so please have headphones handy.

Songwriting & Music Production

Dr Clive Harrison, SAE Institute Audio lecturerPresenter - Dr Clive Harrison

Clive Harrison was rocking a mullet when your parents were kids, probably. He has enjoyed a 45-year career as a successful songwriter, film and TV composer, session musician, and jazz bassist. His credits include: over 100 albums (rock, jazz, funk, R&B, swing, country, ambient, comedy) and 3,000 jingles as a studio bassist; 15 original albums (rock, funk, latin, jazz, fusion, soundtracks); 250 episodes of television (cartoons) and nine movies (docos) as a composer, and over 300 APRA-registered song works. His music has been heard in over 80 countries, and in the 2000s he was one of APRAs top-5 screen-royalty earners.

For this past decade, Clive has gone full-nerd into academia and music education, lecturing in contemporary music and songwriting, and completing a PhD at the University of Newcastle in Creativity and Songwriting (hence the Dr bit). His 2015 book, "The Songwriting Labyrinth: Practical Tools to Decode the Mysterious Craft" was called a ‘must-read’ by APRA, and his academic writings about creativity and songwriting process have been studied worldwide. He has taught the Berklee lyric-writing method and is a master of music theory, especially the parts that are important for songwriters.

Richard eschews social networking so you won’t find him on “the Twitter” or “the Instagram” but he does have a company-mandated email address, so he may be contacted at r.pike@sae.edu

Music Production Masterclass

Songwriting Creativity 101

The Songwriting Creativity Masterclasses won't be about equipment or DAWs. They will be about the songwriting process, creative personalities, barriers to song completion, writer’s block, and how to survive well in the highly competitive world of music creation.
