Jennifer Rickward Joins Award Winning Short Film project

21 Aug 2014

Brisbane Animation student Jennifer Rickward recently had the privilege of working with the Lampshade Collective, on their short film production “The Gallant Captain”.

The film is based on the picture book “The Legend of the Golden Snail” by Graeme Base, who is best known for his 1986 release “Animalia”.

Jennifer joined the animation crew during the production phase, and enjoyed watching the project unfold.

“It was great to see the film evolve from the early stages of Graeme Base’s paintings and the storyboards, to the final film which is now being played at film festivals worldwide,” she says.

“The producer of the film, Katrina Mathers, has been a great source of information on how to approach making a film, and how to go about funding these sorts of projects. I hope to be able to work with the Lampshade Collective again in the future on their upcoming ventures.”

The Gallant Captain has won some very prestigious film festival awards, including Best Short at Aspen Shorts Fest, and Best Short Animation at the Omaha and St Kilda Film Festivals.
