A true team player, SAE Course Advisor Dean has worked at SAE campuses located in Byron Bay, Perth and is now stationed at our South Melbourne location. With a wealth of experience to help you with any course enquiries that you have, Dean is this week's #SAECREW member.

Professional Bio:

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts - Honours from RMIT majoring in Ceramics. I then went on to do a Graduate Diploma in Education and have taught in schools and private studios throughout Australia and the UK. For 6 years I worked in Brixton, London with students aged 11-17 in the juvenile detention system. It was a rewarding and challenging time. Mostly 20% teaching, 80% dodgy chairs. Let's just say I have the lightening reflexes of cat.

What music are you loving right now?

I'm getting back into running these days and have been listening to Barbara Tucker. She's an American house and soul singer who hit the charts in the 1990's and 2000's. Her music is perfect for running. So uplifting and great for the soul.

Why do you love working at SAE?

Being surrounded by other creatives, both staff and students is exciting. It really creates an amazing buzz on campus. I love being part of the student journey and assisting them in achieving their passion and developing a career in the creative industry.

What is the best fun fact about yourself?

I'm still a practicing potter and teach classes in my spare time.

How do you like to spend your time outside of SAE?

Spending time with friends and family. I've worked at SAE Byron Bay and SAE Perth and have returned to Melbourne after being away for 5 years. I'm a massive foodie so there is always great places in Melbourne to explore whenever I can.

What is your life motto?

You got to network to get work.

What is your dream holiday destination?

I love a good beach holiday and watching the sun set over the ocean. Manarola, Cinque Terre in Northern Italy is my favourite little town to visit. I've been there 5 times. The food, the coastline, the people, the culture. Ahhh, it's magic!

Are you working on any exciting projects at the moment?

I'm working on exhibiting my work in the new year.
Here are some pics of my older work that I've developing. No photos of the new work yet, but I'll be sure to let you know when and where I'll be exhibiting.
