Byron creative illustrates life’s journey

26 Mar 2019

If you are a Byron Bay local you may have seen the work of designer and illustrator Luke Pidcock. Luke has been working with North Coast Lifestyle Properties on an innovative marketing narrative series that has been running in local newspaper, The Byron Shire News, over the past seven weeks.

The creative content series follows the journey of the Paradise family as they encounter the fluctuations and the disruptions of life; things we all experience as families and as individuals, such as moving out of home, retirement, pregnancies, engagements and marriages. These are all events that can impact on our living situation. The narrative arc is reflective of life for Byron Shire residents and the stories show both the diversity and inclusivity of the region.

Working in conjunction with the story writer, Vivienne Pearson and North Coast Lifestyle Properties Principal, Sam Pedlow, Luke designed the diverse Paradise family characters all while communicating with the client Sam and collaborator Vivienne online.

Working as a freelancer, Luke was able to combine his contract with North Coast Lifestyle Properties with his work placement hours with SAE Creative Media Institute Byron Bay, where he is studying a Bachelor of Design

Luke says that he has been drawing since he was five years old and, through the Bachelor of Design, he has been able to master how to digitise his passion and turn it into a long term career, taking on diverse projects. Upon completion of his degree, Luke plans to enrol in the SAE Master of Creative Industries to further explore the possibilities in digital illustration and design.
