SAE Perth Audio lecturer Brandon Davids wears many creative hats, he is an Academic, Lecturer, Student, Composer, Song-writer, Start-up Owner and Creative Media Professional. This week we find a bit more about all these roles that keep him busy and motivated.
THE FUN STUFF
What music are you loving right now?
Why do you love working at SAE?
Practical, project based creative media projects, so many and a constant revolving door of them, I get to see my students projects go from idea to fruition.
What is the best fun fact about yourself?
I am full of Dad-isms (not to be confused with Dadaism). E.g. instead of asking your kids how their day at school went, ask them if they caught anyone picking their nose? It gets your kids to enjoy being embarrassed by you from an early age. A secondary fun fact is I generally drop the fact that I have kids into most conversations.

How do you like to spend your time outside of SAE?
My creative brain doesn't stop, I am either writing music, playing music, listening to music, scripting or coding, or creating ideas for future projects. I play in two bands and work in a small online startup with a business partner.
What is your life motto?
Look out for snakes. Seriously. Those things are dangerous.
What is your dream holiday destination?
Necker Island (without the snakes)! I want to sip cocktails with Richard Branson, he seems like a nice guy.
Are you working on any exciting projects at the moment?
Are you kidding? Yes! I'm currently developing a program looking into how aspirations develop and change across a students journey, and the impact that has on their experience. I've been working on it with an SAE colleague in Perth (Cara Phillips) and we are hopefully going to trial the program on the Perth Campus in the first trimester of 2019. It should really help our new students to think about their goals, and get them to take charge of what they want to do, not only that but also help our faculty to guide them much better.
Aside from this I am writing an Album with my band (The Jackson Roses) to follow-up our debut E.P. and am constantly at my computer scripting and developing new instruments for Sonus Instruments, which is the virtual instrument startup mentioned above. If you have the NI Komplete package, download some instruments, we have a bunch of free ones!
