Australia's best share their stories for success with local creators at SAE

30 Oct 2018

Last week saw Screenworks bring together some of Australia’s most successful web series creators for an intensive two day seminar at SAE Creative Media Institute in Byron Bay.

The 2 day event focussed on masterclass sessions covering story development, marketing, accessing funding and much more. Guest speakers included an impressive cast, with Mike Jones (Script Producer Deadlock), Julie Kalceff (Writer, Director, Producer Starting from now), Alyce Adams (Online Investment Manager Screen Australia), Luke Evans (Director and Producer High Life) and Clare Sladden (Writer/Director Freudian Slip) all sharing their knowledge and experience with the audience.

In attendance were Screenworks members, SAE students and faculty, and those simply eager to learn more about creating their own engaging web series. And with ages ranging from 20 to 70 years old, the diversity also extended to the attendees aspirations, where there were guests with projects ready to go, passion projects and long term creative career objectives.

Highly regarded guest speaker, Mike Jones, said it was so great to see the audience so engaged, with questions ranging from practical to conceptual. “It’s great to see how these workshops are incredibly beneficial to those just starting out, as well as those more experienced in the audience” he said.

“As an organisation Screenworks punches above their weight in the region. Outside the cultural epicentres of Sydney and Melbourne, the Byron Shire is a buzzing hub of creativity. Screenworks plays a part in facilitating that, they make a genuine impact to the whole industry,” Mike said.
