Advance your theoretical knowledge of recording and mixing while following professional considerations of working in the industry. Explore the fundamentals of digital audio workstation (DAW) operations and develop your practical skills in the production of studio sound. Students will truly be mixing it with the industry's best. Diploma of Music Industry (Studio Production)
Recording
In this course you will learn all the skills and concepts to record and produce bands in a variety of genres. Learning signal flow on a large format analog console and the microphone techniques used in commercial recordings you will be recording several productions as part of your course.
Mixing
Mixing will also form a integral part of your learning experience and we will illustrate both in the box and mixing on a analog console.
MIDI
Ableton basics and midi programming with virtual instruments, synthesis and sound design will help you incorporate interesting sonic flavour into any type of production.
Post Production
Post Production or Sound for screen is a exciting area of our Industry that includes sound design, foley work. We will show you Audio and how amazing 'monster' sounds are created!

VET Diploma
Entry requirements
Applicants for VET diploma courses must satisfy one of the following minimum entry criteria:
- Provide a copy of a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education that has been awarded by an agency or authority of a State of Territory for the student’s completion of year 12; OR
- Provide evidence of successful completion of an Australian Qualifications Framework Certificate IV or higher qualification (where the language of instruction is English); OR
- Achieve an Exit Level 3 or higher in literacy and numeracy in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) as demonstrated in the Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA) as well as an Alternative Entry meeting with an SAE representative.

Fees and Payments
Diploma of Music Production
In addition to the above requirements, students wishing to enrol in the Music Production Diploma will also be invited to participate in an interview and audition process. This process will help to establish underlying music skills and knowledge as well as program suitability. Remote interviews can be arranged for international students. Students can submit a portfolio of work as an alternative to the audition.
Portfolios may include;
- Links to your music or musical performances Youtube, Soundcloud etc.
- Links to online portfolio pages
- Statement providing an overview of existing skills and knowledge in music production, including examples from senior secondary music classes, AMEB & CPM certification, appointment in school orchestra’s or bands etc.
Payment options: VET Student Loans, or upfront trimester instalments.
