Course Overview

SAE offers you a unique, internationally accredited qualification through hands-on training at the best live music venues in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney including The Rosemount, Max Watt's and The Prince Bandroom. Advance your theoretical knowledge of sound mixing and operations across studio, broadcast and live environments. Explore the fundamentals of Digital audio workstation (DAW) operations and develop your practical skills in the production of live sound, mixing and planning.  Students will truly be mixing it with the industry's best.

Byron Bay has an active live music scene through a combination of established local venues and a generous supply of highly esteemed festivals such as Bluesfest, Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, the Mullumbimby Music Festival and the recently launched Boomerang Festival. SAE has an established relationship with the Byron Theatre and many vibrant community events and festivals that host both local, national and international touring artists. Students are able to gain solid live sound skills and exposure to invaluable industry networks and contacts.

Entry requirements

Applicants for VET diploma courses must satisfy one of the following minimum entry criteria:

  1. Provide a copy of a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education that has been awarded by an agency or authority of a State of Territory for the student’s completion of year 12, OR
  2. Achieve an Exit Level 3 or higher in literacy and numeracy in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) as demonstrated in the Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA) as well as an Alternative Entry meeting with an SAE representative.
